Another good one, Stephen! It may be imaginary but it is most effective!

Many thanks once again David.

Some nice tonal work here Stephen starting with the very dark tree then on to the tree by the river continuing to a misty background. It would look good in colour.

Good over all drawing with well observed tree structure...

An eyecatcher Stephen and more so with the medium. Like the tonal range and the "marks" Will need to look out for a "coffee stirrer"

Very nice indeed

Clean painting with lovely muted colours, I really like it.

Excellent Stephen love the background and composition

Many thanks everyone for your encouraging comments. I remember reading Mike, that Edward Wesson switched from matchsticks to discarded lolly pop sticks, as they were longer. But then that was long before Starbucks etc. arrived!

Stephen , I use short lengths of bamboo as matchstick holders so it is basically like using a dip pen. Also have 2 sizes of matchstick - standard size and large. No strain on the hands/fingers using these.

Yes I think Mr. Wesson did that too, but I did find the stirrer quite good. Quite expensive though if you pay £3 for a coffee to get it!

Quite a few drawing s on the site today, which is nice to see. This little imaginary scene started with a loose ink drawing, using a ‘trimmed’ coffee stirrer. Added a few loose washes with watercolour later.
