This is beautiful, Stephen, in so many ways. I'm particularly drawn to that lovely tree on the right with its sparse foliage and strong trunk, and the reflections in the water are great. The other one is also beautiful, but this is my favourite.

A lovely seen, good reflections on the water.

Sorry I mean't 'scene' Stephen!

I can see Geoff Kersey's hand in this, but what's much more important is that I can see yours - the best tutors teach you how to paint as you want to, and not as they do. Looks to me as though GK is indeed one of the best.

Nice ones Stephen. Funny Robert should make that comment, as I have been watching GK television programs, to pick up hints and tips. Totally agree, but he is good isn't he. It must of been a striking and memorable experience. Keep up the good work.

Stunning, Stephen - beautiful, luminous and atmospheric. Love the recession too.

Back to watercolours, love the reflections in the water .Did u enjoy the course?

You lucky begger Stephen going on one of Geoff's courses, I like his delivery, he makes you believe you can paint! As Robert remarked, there is a lot of your style in this painting and you've got everything just right.

Many thanks everypne for your enthusiastic comments. The course was very enjoyable but I think two days is about my limit as I was very tired driving home last night! I am always struck when I go to a watercolour workshop, by how much preparation and planning proffessional artists put into their work. Probably why they are so much better than us 'leisure painters'.

this is stunning and beautiful :-) you have a lot of talent :-) could look at it for ages :-)

This is really lovely Stephen, so serene.

Many thanks Rebecca and Denise for your kind remarks.

This is my favourite of the two you have done on the course. It evokes that serene power in nature that trees have, if that is not being too fanciful.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments Gudrun.

This is beautiful Stephen, I love the wet in wet background, the super reflections and the sparse bright green foliage on the foreground tree. This painting has a very serene feel to it.

Thanks for your kind remarks, Val and Glennis.

Wow thanks Kirstie, that's a compliment fron you!

Thanks for your comments Stephen and your help with the deleting. I think I have managed it at last!

I haven't seen any of Geoff's programmes but will check them out, this is great Stephen, love the damp, quiet atmosphere and those reflections...

Thanks Caroline, I've learnt a lot from Geoff''s courses. It's interesting to watch a proffessional watercolourist at work, it's not just talent but attention to detail, getting the washes 'just right' the drawing correct, adding masking fluid etc. before picking up the brush!

A very beautiful watercolour Stephen!!!

Many thanks once again Satu.

Fabulous Stephen. I've not attempted this one yet.

Many thanks Peter, it's always easier when the master is there isn't it? But I have learned a lot from Geoff's patient instruction.

First of two watercolours I painted on a course tutored by Geoff kersey, which was both enjoyable and very instructive.

About the Artist
Stephen Slater

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
