Oh wow Shirley, this is so beautiful

I like the additional birds and the extra strokes of colour Shirley, you have still kept the abstract feel.

How do you work Shirley, en Plein Air? Then take that home or what??

Well I think you have it spot-on Shirley, the only real detail is the Cormorant which really does give a focal point. I like it loads. My apologies if it's not a Cormorant.

Love the colours and washes.

The additions have added so much Shirley. Really lovely!

Another beauty Shirley, keep doing them!

You've achieved a great painting here Shirley, little detail but loads of information. A beauty.

Thanks so much for these helpful comments. What do I do, John? Well I see something, wonder if I've got my phone or sketch book or both. Spend about ten minutes gazing, drawing, photo on phone. Then I get back, stretch a piece of paper, and see what I can do with the paint. It is too cold for sitting out of doors, but I shall do that when it warms up.

Beautifully done Shirley.

Great use of colour! I love it.

Some additions and cropping to previous version. Any opinions welcome. I am trying to find the line between detail and abstraction.
