The area in downtown Singapore, on which Craig's Place is sited, was the former nutmeg plantation of Dr J. William Montgomerie, who first arrived in Singapore in 1819. He was the Assistant Surgeon in the service of the British colonial government. He built two dwelling houses in the area, one of which was called Craig's Hill. Craig's Place was named after the original house. Acrylic on Paper. Painted en plein air.
