That'd be a great painting for an RAF Mess - indeed, the armed forces are still one of the major patrons of art. This is brilliant.

This is a cracking painting even with all the greys in it it still sparkles. I was also in the RAF in Norfolk during the early 80s so it a scene I can relate to.

I agree -for such a dull day & a grey palette the plane and the painting shines.

Love this Michael, remember them well from my time in the RAF in the sixties. You have a very good portfolio too.

Beautiful execution of this super aircraft Michael, and one of my favourites. I remember watching one of these take off from Gibraltar runway, it didn't even use the full runway, which is already short. It almost took off vertical and disappeared, a sight I will never forget.

What a stunner! My favourite aircraft of all time. Spent a glorious week when I was an air cadet at Coltishall where there were several squadrons of these beauties and got towed around in one, acting as brake man. I echo Fiona's thoughts about the take off! Saw one at Farnborough do the same thing. Spectacular painting Michael.

Great painting Michael, the Lightning against the sky works really well.

51x34 cm Acrylic on board. A EE Lightning Mk6 on a typically miserable day on the flight line. An imangined subject but based on my time serving in Germany and East Anglia with the RAF.
