You've captured the 'bogginess' of the ground very well

Love those blonde grasses, what a satisfying painting.

It’s beautiful as it is Sarah - love those grasses and that view to the distance!

Oh thank you Jo, Sylvia and Rachel for your lovely comments.

A really lovely painting Sarah, and I especially like the looseness of the foreground and the distance. I don’t think you need to do much more to it, but my only suggestion would be to add some darker tones or different colours to the pale grass area? What do you think?

It's lovely, particularly the foreground

Yep, definitely a possibility Tessa, I will store up the suggestion! Thank you for that. Going to not look at it for a bit and do something else and then revisit!! Thank you again.

Sorry Heather, your comment arrived as I was typing! Thank you very much.

This is lovely Sarah with a good composition and well painted trees and grasses. The light seems so clear too.

Works very well Sarah, I thought it was a watercolour at first, must be difficult to get those thin lines in oils.

A lovely scene well painted, I think the trees are really well defined in structure. Maybe as Tessa remarked a little darker tones in the grass might help to give more contrast otherwise every thing else looks fine...

Love your grass work Sarah. A very good observational painting nicely done indeed.

So well painted!!

Lovely picture Sarah, excellent colours.

A really impressive painting. I love the strength of mark making in the grasses and the details on the trees.

A lovely, impressionistic painting Sarah with lots of varied mark making.

I absolutely understand the need to show it in order to prevent yourself from mucking about with it! Mind you, I do that as well - and sometimes still muck about with it afterwards. In this case though, you've absolutely got the place you've painted - not that I've seen it, so far as I recall, but I've seen plenty similar - and have caught its wildness: I have admired paintings which make a scene look a lot more inviting than they really are, but always with reservations. In this case, I believe in your landscape, know I'd need wellyboots and a stout stick to navigate it, and would come home (if I didn't sink) covered in weed, mud, and the occasional newt.

I love the complete naturalness of this Sarah. The colours, composition and those wonderful trees, makes one think you are there. Don’t change a thing.

Superb and beautifully painted, a complete painting certainly doesn’t need any more .

Thank you so much Martin, Stephen, John, Chris, David, Stephen, Spencer, David, Robert, Carole and Paul - overwhelmed by your comments, thank you. Stephen S - I have a lovely rigger brush from Rosemary & Co. Size 3/0 which helps with fine detail! And Robert, thanks for making me laugh - not sure I have brought any newts home yet (though I wouldn't rule it out!) But have certainly had soggy feet, especially this winter! Thank you all, again- I really appreciate it .

This is one of those paintings that I wish I had painted…..it’s beautiful Sarah. The vague distance, the wonderfully painted Reed bed, the soggy foreground….all the ingredient of your experience, thank you for sharing it.

Lovely soft colours Sarah. Nothing much to do here - I might think about Tessa’s suggestion, a little tonal variation in the reeds perhaps.

A wonderful painting, Sarah, love the foreground detail and the expertly handled recesion -terrific.

Everything works so well in this lovely scene - excellent, Sarah!

I think this looks stunning Sarah.

Thank you so much Fiona, Marjorie, Willie, Anne and Denise - am humbled by your lovely comments.

Great work Sarah!

Thank you very much Diane!

Thank you very much Coral!

Oil on canvas panel 24 x 30 cm. I may add or remove more though not sure. Thought I'd post it quickly to prevent me messing around with it for a bit!
