I don't know how you do it, but this is beautiful. I love the colours and strokes. The birds are simple, yet they are flying. Never mind what is underneath! I had to have a take 2 this morning with my latest project! The size you have used; I am quite tempted to get one or two for full length portraits - ambitious eh? It is a lovely warm day. We (me and toddler) have been out for long walks, both in the small nature reserve and town. Glorious.

You do have an eye for the abstract and these wonderful designs. The colours are so fresh and the pen outlines of the birds make just the right statement. Super.

this is great Satu, love the colours

Super painting, love the colour and your style.

Thank you so much Gudrun, Thea, Petra and Lesley for your support, very much appreciated. Gudrun, try big, it's scary but fun and you can always paint over if it doesn't work out the first time. I have got the other big one now to fill with colours and once again it feels daunting and exciting at the same time.

I also find painting large a bit of a challenge but it's really paid off here Satu - the understatement is very effective.

Thanks so much Satu for your lovely comment on my latest dog pastel portrait of Phoebe the super smiley dog, so pleased you hink I have done such a good job on her, she was lovely to draw because of how good original photo was

First canvas of this size 60 x 90 cm and I found it quite difficult to master. Usually I use square format which I find more satisfying but because I went and bought two of these I have to use them. The first attempt went horribly wrong with mud everywhere so this is painted on top of it ( one of those again!). I was inspired by the first WARM day and the birdsong and I saw migrating birds flying towards the Noth. Here they go !
