I love this Satu! The composition is excellent and I like the addition of the smaller vertical checks and the white swirls on the wall. All the shapes work so well together. Without the black it might not have been as effective. The black adds to the drama and makes it a strong image. I also like that touch of green, you can probably tell just how much I like it :)

I agree with Louise and she is right about the green - it makes the picture 'sing ' - reminds me of Constables touch of red in a green landscape. Great Picture.

Lots of "contrasts" ....... colours, shapes. It's lovely, works well.I can see you're happy to be painting again.

You have a very interesting gallery, Satu and this is one of my favourites as is your winning wedding portrait. As you say you ended up with some black, I know the feeling: I always start or end up with an ink drawing!!!

I was so glad on returning from holiday to get your kind and encouraging messages, Satu. I was feeling pretty fed-up after the 3 morning 'course' where I had hoped to learn but everyone was just copying whereas I have a yearning to think and transform a subject and represent it in my own way (as far as I can). So I was feeling isolated and haven't tried anything since. I always log on to see your new work and do like the shapes and colour in this and 'the missing piece' . Wish I could do something approaching those ! Will try again!
