And this I like...monotone without monotony. The croppng of top and bottom is just right and makes one wonder what lies above and below.

Watching the tide rush in through the marshes. In answer to some previous questions; I use a variety of papers. Bockingford, Cotman and The Langton, usually 140gm , sometimes 200gm. I paint in my studio rather than plein air, but do spend an awful lot of time 'looking' and photographing, probably more than actually painting ! I don't copy photographs religiously but use them as a reminder and reference. I am very new to watercolours and my history is acrylics and mixed media which are so different, and I am still experimenting. Each painting is a meditation and is very much about letting the water and paint do it's thang ! Serendipity. Quite often I find an A4 painting doesn't work as a whole, so I will crop to make a more interesting composition or remove the rubbish bits. LOL I have always used a limited palette and even in my large mixed media painting have stuck to less than five colours. Hope this helps lol.
