You've caught his essence very well. It makes me feel quite wistful too, Ruth. There was one where I grew up but it has now disappeared. We used to see it at dusk in the springtime. They are magnificent birds, my favourite plumage in the owl family.

I photographed this beautiful Barn Owl at the National Wildlife Ex. at the Gordale Centre on the Wirral. There seemed to me to be a world of wisdom in his eyes...and an infinite depth of sadness too.....I hated the leather thongs on his wonderful legs, so I left them out....painting is only small A5
