Nicely done Ruth. A little more shadow on the Peacock's beak? Like the ferns on the right, and good perspective.

Thank you, Jeanette. I can't find the peacock...think you had a senior moment there...or is my representation of a pheasant that bad!? The beak does need attention, you're quite right. All is forgiven...

Yes, definitely a senior moment - how did you know? Of course it's a pheasant the male.

Ah but the glorious twelfth is when the Grouse season opens not pheasants. LOL I'm not quite sure whether that pale blue is part of the bird or of the ground behind it. As with the beak, some shadow or darker colour would help separate it from the path..

Diana, Oh dear! How right you are. I have covered myself in glory, haven't I, never mind the twelfth! Blush blush and all that. And I've been telling my friend , Mr. Tuk-Tuk, to stay under the pheasant hide from tomorrow! I don't suppose that I can get away with saying that I did put 'I don't think so' in the title? No? Oh well... Yes, the beak does need work on it, and the blue, which I will deepen as I don't want to bring the background forward by darkening that. Thank you for your comments...will keep them in mind for next year, when I shall probably be having even worse senior moments....

Don't mention senior moments Ruth- I posted a sweet pea I'd painted a while back that turned out to be a lily! I really must label my photos!

Male pheasants are so colourful and beautiful. Glorious 12th or not, they still get shot around here! I like the contrast between the forground and the background Ruth, well done.

Thank you all for your inputs.

Watercolour, soluble graphite and line. Dare I say this...Shoot beauty with a camera, not a gun.
