It's beautiful Ruth. The negative and positive shapes conjure up so many different possibilities; frost/ice on a window, underwater plants..... I admire your patience to try this method of painting, I tried and failed, I don't think my brain is wired up to accept the technique...lol I can't reverse either!

Lovely handled very well Ruth

Nice work Ruth. You could actually go over the parts of the background colour and pick out even more thin branch shapes? Just an idea :)

You have done this well Ruth, painstaking but worth it.

The tree of life..the aorta. That's what I see anyway. A fascinating painting Ruth, with beautiful blocks of colour. Very nice.

What a stunning composition!

Interesting to see something very different Ruth, it does make the imagination go to work.

That's excellent Ruth. My brain aches when I try negative painting :)

I love this Ruth, lovely piece of work. I haven't got the patience to do this!

Hi Fiona. Thank you for looking. If you are referring to your driving, I can't reverse either...and parking? Forget it...I just abandon my vehicle!

Thank you Dennis and Louise. Glad you liked it, it is a very new technique to me. Louise...My biggest problem was to know when to stop!!

Thank you Carole and Kirstie. I did love doing this, it was very exciting, but yes...requiring concentration.

Thank you Andre, Julie and Marjorie, for commenting. This was a new curve for me, and it was fun, but it seemed to take ages to come together!

Hi Val and Margaret. You are very kind. Thank you for commenting.

Ruth, it's comforting to know that I don't suffer this affliction alone! Parking? If I can't find a 'drive in drive out' spot, I go home...lol

Beautiful and interesting painting, very skilled work Ruth

Well done Ruth and a great way of working, good to see a few of the members experimenting and not in a rut...

Good piece of work Ruth.

Hi Lisa, Alan and George, and thank you for your lovely comments.

It's something I used to do and it's gets the mind working in a different way , that's a lovely piece of work

Thanks Dermot.

A beautiful example ! You have the patience and expertise to make it look so easy !!

Thank you Avril. I just love doing it, and as you know, that's the secret!

I have been experimenting with negative painting as an individual art form, and am finding it fascinating but a great challenge as .it involves a whole new way of looking at the subject. I have used work by Linda Kemp as a guide to the composition of this one.
