Hi Ruth I was just about to leave the site. I love John Blockley's work too. I like your painting , the way you have put down the ink and watercolour is lovely.

I don't think it's harsh at all. There is a good energy from this painting. I also like the progression of the textures from the bottom up.

l like everything about this Ruth apart from the top of the mountain. I don't think it is harsh at all and I love the way you have used the ink and watercolour - very subtle colours.

Painted from memory of many similar Welsh views. I am an admirer of John Blockley's work, particularly his feeling for the textures of the countryside and in particular of granite and slate. Rather a harsh painting..... watercolour and pen and ink, using sea salt crystals to aid texture. I think I added the salt a little too late to get the full effect I was looking for.
