12 November 2014. Afternoon Light, Monks Horton. Painted this in the depths of the countryside and peering over a hedge. I loved the afternoon light on the old farm building and the bluish shadows of the two autumn trees. Fortunately the light held well and was getting warmer, so by the time I stopped, (I won’t say finished), there was the beginning of a sunset behind me. I tend to stop painting when the light changes - which for me is a good thing. It stops me from over working a painting and I might achieve some spontaneity or freshness.
