Lovely palette.

My dad was also an artist and a fan of Roland Hilder, as am I. You’ve captured the bridge and boats really well: love the shadows.

Great Picture, great style. Odd isn't it that 40 years ago, most of us had probably borrowed a Roland Hilder book from the library, but today if you search the National Gallery website, the Tate site, or even Art UK, you can't find anything by him. Yet, in his day, there were those who called him the Turner of his generation.

Thanks for your for kind comments, as for Tony's observation, my sentiments exactly. To my mind he was such talent, superb draughtsman and a true artist in every sense, he even used lamp black!

I thought Roland Hilder as soon as I saw this on the gallery. I tried to copy things from his books when I first started, very difficult! This has come out very well though.

It's Rowland Hilder, for future reference.

Well and properly corrected Alan. The curious thing is his father seems to have been called Roland!
