Figure in the Clearing

Dark indeed but a brilliant drawing Robert, I like it a lot!

Love it.

This one’s a bit full-on Robert! Deep and intense, and I love the framing of the figure.

Tremendously atmospheric, one can easily imagine dark deeds in there. I like it.

Very dark ... wouldn't like to be in these woods and see that figure!

A walk in the dark wood beware the witches and beasts , has a lot of atmosphere Robert .

Strong and moody Robert. That introduction of a little colour makes the picture work so very well.

Dark but extremely effective, Robert!

Atmospheric and dark ,looks formidable with the trees and light in the background filtering through the brackish woodland! The Conte pastels certainly draw the eye into the figure spedding into the clearing, effective as they show the grass and red highlights!

Like this very much Robert……it’s intimidating atmosphere appeals.

A really lovely and slightly mysterious drawing Robert. Super work.

Love the trees and roots intermingling and creating a gloomy feel.

Brilliant, again would make an excellent illustration for one of MR James's short stories.

Well, here's something a bit different for you - ink, conté crayon, and a touch of no-longer available Nupastel (you could use any coloured hard pastel: if you wanted to...). An example of my dark period. Circa A4 size, on String and Space 200gm paper.
