not surprised you're pleased with this magnificent painting. Regards to Oscar, your well-travelled hound.

Thanks for your kind comments, Robert. This was a labour of love; according to my log, it took 84 hours to complete, a new record for me.

Beuatiful work. I like the colors and lightd/shodows.

The lighting is beautiful.

Paul, Thanks for your kind comments.

Hi Richard, Yes, it looks like we were in a similar position at a similar time of day. I love this painting of yours - the sky is fantastic, and the detailing is the buildings excellent. I tend to avoid lots of windows! I do like experimenting with different media, and currently love using the water soluble oils because of the way I can manipulate them over time. I did try watercolour for a while but with one or two exceptions, seemed to create images that lacked the sparkle watercolour should give - I think that must be down to lack of practise.

24" x 36". Prague is one of my favourite European cities and I was fortunate enough to visit on business a few years ago. This scene is based on a series of photographs taken from Charles Bridge. I have used a considerable amount of artistic licence, changing the sky, adding flood lighting to the main buildings and modifying the perspective to add interest. As with many of my paintings, I have also made extensive use of golden ratios, notably with the position of the sun, the various roof lines and key buildings. In the background is Prague Castle with St. Vitus Cathedral positioned in front of the setting sun. Looking west along the bridge are the Lesser Town Towers and the magnificent St. Nicholas Cathedral. My favourite dog, Oscar, makes another appearance, here seen crossing the bridge in front of Saints Norbert of Xanten, Wenceslas and Sigismund. This painting took longer to complete than any other to date but I am pleased with the final result. Please visit my web site at: www.richardharpum.com
