Like this one Rebecca, well done.

thanks so much Glennis :-) i appreciate you looking and commenting :-)

This jumped out at me as I came to the gallery. Wow. Very effective from afar. Perhaps try getting the lights by leaving the paper white next time and see what happens and/or less pigment wash? Just a suggestion, because this works, but experimenting is good.

Hi Gudrun :-) thanks so much for your lovely comments and advise :-) the problem is for me perhaps the paints i use, because i do not use masking fluid, and it is difficult to lift out with brusho, and not possible with acrylics, so, i think i may have to try different watercolours, and try to not sketch it first with pencil, because i can still see the pencil marks............ yes less pigment in the water could be a better idea :-) thanks for thinking this has worked, but i agree i like to experiment with the same picture, and i am in fact painting another one like this but with different variations of the same products used for this one. may be boring though for everyone if i upload similar paintings :-p thanks so much for looking and commenting, im really pleased it stood out :-)

Lovely shape and colour rebecca.

I like it alot Rebecca :)

Rebecca this is an eye catching flower and your continued practice is really paying off. I admire the way you try so many different things - you're quite an inspiration.

Awww thats so nice and kind of you Jane, thanks so much :-) i appreciate you commenting and looking at my paintings, thanks so much :-)

Well done - some good advice above - this one really stands out

You're going to off me when I say this Rebecca, but here goes; when I saw this on the gallery page I thought it was a different Rebecca......shall I go on? This is such an accomplished painting Rebecca, you can tell you have thought about, and taken your time about the application of the paint and made great decisions about light and dark areas. Michael is right there is some good advice above and I know some of it may go against your free, impulsive painting techniques but if you can remember what you did when you painted this, you'll go from strength to strength. I think this is lovely Rebecca and my apologies, if I have caused offence, none intended.

the advise is taken :-p thanks so much for commenting Michael, i am pleased you like it :-)

you cant get rid of me that easily Fiona :-p why would i be offended? :-) you have not insluted my painting by saying it is rubbish :-p or anything horrid like that :-) i appreciate that you and Gudrun and others wish to give me advise as i find it helpful, i wish to paint better :-) and if i can remember all your lovely advise, i will try to add it to my next version of the Hibiscus, iv done 2 other versions so far :-) but not sure if i should upload them in case people think it's a repeat :-p you made me giggle to think you may have offended me :-p you advised nicely, and i appreciate it :-) thank you :-)

Hi Rebecca - this really is an accomplished painting and it's quite obvious that the continuous practice you do is improving your painting enormously ! Keep it going - the new ones are brilliant ! x

Hi Bevererly :-) thanks so much for looking and commenting :-) since having photos to copy from and look at, i think this may be better for my paintings :-) (i hope) when paintings come from my imagination they are sketchy as i have to capture them quickly before i forget what they look like, cos they are in my head :-p the photos are better because they are always there :-) i am really pleased you think it is an accomplished painting :-) it means a lot to me :-) thanks so much to you and everyone for the encouragment :-)

Attempted to capture the Hibiscus flower head from a photo in my inspiration book, i used brusho bright red, vermillion, schmincks red acrylic paint, black derwent inktense pencil, a mix of white relief paste and yellow brusho mix. black brusho for the vein markings. I went too mad trying to capture the light parts, dark parts, and i hope i have not destroyed the lovely flower? :-)
