I looks good Sarah! I like the subtle colours and the solid look of the jug

Lovely painting Sarah

wow, i thought this was an oil painting because of the lovely texture i can see :-) have you used any gloss varnish or something? :-) the whole painting is very realistic and perfect :-) i love jars/pots/jugs filled with brushes, so inspiring and reminds me of the film Miss Potter :-)

A lovely piece, Sarah. I like the effect of the limited palette.

Sarah, i like this very much. I like the way it's bordering on abstract, at least to my eye, with that interesting shadow of ?dried cow parsley? coming in from the left. Also your nice cropped compositon adds to the intimacy. I want that jug!

All these lovely replies! Right then here I go .Louise, Petra and Seok, I very much appreciate your great comments as I do Rebecca and Carolines too, but as the two latter have asked me questions I shall try to answer them here now! Rebecca, I have not used any varnish etc.. on this. What I have done is to build up various washes and because this is on Bockingford 140lbs paper I could scratch out highlights with a sharp knife. The texture on the wall was made with natural sponge dabbed here and there, then it was like cloud watching....every so often the shapes in some of the flint wall would appear and I highlighted them a little bit. Great fun to do, I recommend it :) Caroline, Yes! that is cowparsley in a vase on the window sill. It needed something there as too bland without it but I was worried that it would not translate well. The earthenware jug is one I've had for ages and indeed they were popular in the seventies to go with 'country kitchen' units. Yes, I'm a very old gal now :) I must admit I do love that jug too :)

A lovely painting with a lovely jug Sarah! I also thought that it's oil so I admire you work even more knowing that it's a watercolour.

That you Satu. What a lovely compliment :)

Sarah...What a lovely gallery of work you have, I have just had a look at it. I love the diffused light which you achieve in your paintings, and such a variety of subjects too, very well done indeed. I particularly admire the way in which you have created a delightful painting here from commonplace objects, it shows talent when you can do that. Thank you for your comment on my Quirky.

Ruth, thank you for taking the time to have a look at my gallery and then leaving such nice compliments. I'm walking on cloud nine :)

I don't know if this translates well. Any C&C welcome :). On Bockingford 140lbs.
