What a lovely painting Rachel and you make it sound so easy!

Beautiful crane, very effective watercolour technique. I like the waterfall.

The effect is beautiful! I can almost feel the spray - really great.

I'm with you all the way on avoiding masking fluid, and this is gorgeous - reminiscent of Chinese painting, and using a similar technique by the sound of it. I admire the way you've just let the washes take their own course and haven't tidied them up at the bottom. The crane is brilliantly done, by the way - is the white just the paper? I might have cheated with a touch of gouache or acrylic.....

Something a bit different. I try to avoid masking fluid whenever possible partly because the paper I normally use doesn't take it well. So for this I dampened all the paper from the skyline, avoiding the flying crane and then just dropped lots of juicy greens onto the wet paper and let it run. Once that was dry I just added a few details to the crane and that was it. It took about 20 mins to do!
