Great photo to work from Val and a very interesting story, super glowing colours, lovely!

Fantastic! Excellent colours you have used. I'd love to sit there and watch the sun go down.

Nice one Val, love the atmosphere. Can't beat a good sunset.

Super sunset Val. It's been quite some time since I've seen the sun, let alone a lovely evening sky like this one!

Beautiful sunset, beautifully painted, so vibrant

Dramatic sunset, very beautiful Val.

Val, you couldn't have posted this beautiful sunset at a more convenient time.....for me that is! Lol. I'm trying to do a sunset in watercolour and it isn't the easiest sky I've attempted. This is a cracker!! Hope mine tuns out half as good.

What a wonderful sky Val and the tree and craggy silhouette add a dramatic touch. Beautiful!

Thank you so much Debs, Hazel, Rebecca, Peter, Louise, Glennis, Carole, Fiona and Christine, the gallery looked as though it had been very quiet so it was a lovely surprise to find all these great comments, thanks again.

A sunset brilliantly depicted, Val! You've captured the light and dramatic impact beautifully!

You are so brave about skies - wish I could be! I always feel that sunsets are one of the hardest scenes to paint and often turn out to be far too brash. However, your sunset is nothing like that as it is glowing, subtle and has that wonderful light that the fading day often produces. The placing of the tree is also perfect. Super stuff.

Fabulous colours Val. I've just been playing around with an old set of pastels and I love the vibrant colours - you've really capitalised on that in this scene - beautiful!

This is a great sky Val, love the colours.

What lovely comments, thank you so much Seok, Thea, Jane and Denise. Jane as you can see I love vibrant colours that is why pastels are my favourite of all the mediums :)

I've left comments elsewhere so will just say Wonderful, wonderful

Wow, it is very dramatic, Val.

Marvellous sunset, beautiful colours, great tree and hills thrown into relief by the setting sun

Now, I expect you are wondering where the castle is LOL Castle Craig is the name of one of the hills in the Ochils, Central Scotland. It was a promontory that stuck out from the Ochils, a good vantage spot, and many many years ago had a fort on the top. Unfortunately, in more recent times, the powers that be allowed quarrying to be carried out there leaving a big hole and scar on the landscape. This was painted from one of my husbands photos. Thanks for looking.
