That is a wonderful blue Val, and it's a very pretty picture!

A strong statement of a June day. That sea and the golden sand make a glorious contrast.

Delightful work, Val. I'm just back from a few days up yonder. You forget how stunning it is. You've done it justice.

Val, very nice. Lovely bright colours and a lovely beach. I have been trying oils, as I like to paint outdoors and Acrylics are not congenial for outside

What a superb beach and you have shown it to us in the best way possible - through a beautiful painting. Regarding the looser style - I think one always is drawn to paint in the style which reflects how you see a subject, so trying to work in a style which you may find hard to see in your mind's eye may not be right for either you or the particular painting. I think your style suits this subject exceptionally well - it has a lovely smooth and peaceful look to the scene so I suspect you have very accurately shown us your reaction to it - which is what it is all about. Hope this all makes sense! Anyway, in a nutshell - a super painting of a lovely place.

Wonderful colours and what a beautiful beach, Val. I haven't been there but your painting makes me want to go ... will add it to my list of places to see!

Beautiful beach scene Val, looks so peaceful and quiet.

A beautiful scene. I love the little trickle of water meandering down to the sea. Good choice of colours and composition.

Super painting Val, Achiltibuie is a great spot and you've got it spot on!!

I see you have changed subject; from your lovely flower portraits and your landscapes are just as good. Love the light in the foreground and the background is dark with clouds.

You've developed a very distinct style for your landscapes, Val! I could tell it was yours even before I saw your name! It's just lovely - I love the way you always manage to capture the light and the tranquility of the scene before you.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to leave such generous comments. You've given me a real confidence boost.

Achnahaird beach near Achiltibuie in north west Scotland from a photo taken in late June. The sea was an unbelievable blue that day. Enjoyed doing this one in oil instead of my usual pastel for a change but intended a much looser painting. Unfortunately my brain just won't let me work that way LOL.Thanks for looking and C & C very welcome.
