Polyanna...is the Scottish Wildcat similar to (in Wales) our feral cat? I was visited last winter by a large furry cat which resembled a lynx...pointed ears, enormous bushy tail.....Haven't seen him since, but perhaps he will re-appear when food gets scarce. Best of luck in your campaign, and delighted that you have come onto the POL site to raise awareness with this beautiful portrait.

Quite formidable skill is displayed in this painting - and of a formidable animal, too. I wish you every success in your campaign to protect them.

Sooo beautiful. Such a majestic animal that you've portrayed beautifully. Best of luck with the campaign to save a trully "wild" animal.

Thankyou for all your kind comments about this painting - Ruth, the Scottish wild cat is in fact a different animal - you can read more about it & see some great photos here :http://highlandtiger.com/ - thankyou for your support!

I wish you all the best with your campaign and cannot agree more with the comments above. Can you explain what you mean by other media?

A beautiful painting of a beautiful creature; I think myself very fortunate to live in an area where wild cats are, and I would consider myself to be vey, very lucky indeed if I were ever to see one. There was one spotted only six miles from where I live...so you never know!! Good luck with your campaign Pollyanna. Fantastic gallery by the way!

The media I mainly work in is Gouache - there isn't an option given to select this in the site menu when adding work to the Portfolio. Thanks again for all the positive comments - much appreciated!

Love your paintings, good to see them here, I have tried gouche but not enough time or patience to persist, good to see charities being supported by artists like you and David Shepherd - another favourite

Pollyanna has pledged her support to Highland Tiger, a new project developed by the Wild Media Foundation to educate and raise awareness about the highly endangered Scottish Wildcat, our only remaining native feline. As a predator, it plays a crucial role in our ecosystems and is rooted in Scotland’s natural heritage, an untameable spirit admired by the people of the Highlands for centuries. Pollyanna was invited to add her name to the list of celebrity supporters of the project. “As a wildlife artist I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to observe and sketch the Scottish wildcat in the wild in Scotland, nearly 17 years ago. I will never forget the moment I first spotted a thick bottle-brush tail in the undergrowth after many many days of watching and waiting - and was finally able to capture this beautiful cat in my sketchpad. It is sobering to think that the last remaining large mammal predator in the British Isles is so perilously close to extinction, and it's vital to preserve this beautiful creature, which is part of our natural heritage, while we still have a window of opportunity. I hope very much that the Tiger of the Highlands will continue to roam the wilds of Scotland as it has for centuries.” The painting ‘Highland Tiger’ has been published as a limited edition print to support the conservation project. Just 250 copies will be available, numbered and signed by Pollyanna, with 50% of the proceeds going to Highland Tiger. visit www.pollyannapickering.co.uk for details.
