Thanks again everyone for sharing your very welcome comments. With this particular painting I took a page out of the Norman Rockwell book and stylized the colours to be muted and vintage in feel. Isidora's hat played a big part in driving the values and I paid attention to positive/negatives aspects of where I created the shapes. Sometimes by accentuating one value you create an even better outcome for the adjacent space on the canvas.

There's lots of character in this, and I love your use of colour.
