What a beauty Petra - both the subject and the 'portrait'

Petra, I like mother every bit as much as her baby. A brilliant piece of observation. Since this was a pastel painting, may I ask what paper you used, and what colour it was? The dramatic focus on the subject must come from a dark (black?) paper? I have never dared use black, but your painting makes me think I should.

Many thanks Michael, Glennis, Duncan and Siv for your lovely comments. very much appreciated. / Duncan the paper is Fabriano Tiziano, the original colour was soft yellow, I painted the background with dark grey, it looks black, unison pastels, I used coloufrix paper to paint the baby goat, and did the same with the background

I like this just as much as your last piece Petra. what great observational skills you have to produce such a convincing painting of your subject, a fantatstic piece to add to your porfolio.
