Peter, I have a thing about boats and water, too, must be the soothing state of water, can you tell me were you light source comes from, left or right or above?

Paul, thanks for the comments. the light (such little as there is!) comes from top left. The lightness on the hull on the shadow side is reflected form the water. As it happens this painting was commissioned by the skipper and this is not the finished version. I went back to it and added more contrast, defining the horizon and strengthening some of the colour. I did this so late in the day that I neglected to photograph the results.
