Once again the swans add interest to this scene Peter, lovely soft washes also.

Really lovely feeling in this, delicate swans

Dream-like. Wonderful.

Many thanks for your thoughts Stephen, Annie and Skylar.

Peter you've captured a mystical quality to your watercolour, love your chosen palette for this. I think I say that a lot about your paintings lol.

Many thanks Fiona. For all of my paintings I use just eight colours, two blues, yellows and reds combined with burnt sienna and burnt umber.from this limited selection I can achieve a huge range of colours and tones.

I'm liking these latest works immensely Peter, full of atmosphere which all paintings should have, not just an accurate representation, well done. I would possibly have softened the line where land meets water and let them run into each other a bit, just a thought!.

Another great watercolour Peter, the swans make it come to life

Thankyou very much Alan and Linda for your comments. Yes Alan, atmosphere is so important. This is probably the one area that gives watercolour an advantage over other media insofar as it is relatively easy to create an ethereal quality using watercolour. Also, I agree with your observation regarding the white line. I do sometimes do it the way you have mentioned but for whatever reason didn't in this instance.Always feel free to point these tings out to me. I will always listen to and welcome this kind of advice from fellow artists.Personally I think there should be a lot more constructive criticism. There can be an awful lot of eulogising, which is also very important, but it can be a bit sterile sometimes.

A beautiful painting to match the lovely story.

Lovely work Peter, the swans look so good.

Thankyou very much Margaret.

What wonderful handling of the medium Peter - love it

Thankyou very much Lynne.

Watercolour of swans flying acoss Marlfield Lake. I chose the title from an ancient irish myth in which the children of a king were turned into swans by a lover of the king who possessed magical powers.

Hi, I'm Peter and I paint with watercolours. I have always loved the outdoors and I like to try to paint my favourite landscape and seascape scenery using watercolours. I always feel that painting is a journey and that I make progress steadily but not rapidly and that my best paintings are yet to…
