A very nice piece of watercolour Peter.

Super little watercolour Peter, your water effects are brilliant.

Lovely work once again Peter, the ripples from the boat work very well. 'Quick small exercise on practice paper' indeed!

Peter, Thank you for your comment on my painting here on POL. I always admire yours. As I could not figure out how else to contact you here is my reply to your question about my technique. My acrylic paintings always start with a white unterpainting for the sky adding blue wet into wet. The trees have several layers of different shades of green stippled on using a well worked brush with bristles sticking out everywhere. Highlights and shadows are added to bring out the sunshine. But who am I telling. You are the master. There is a speed painting video about one of my Cornwall paintings if you care to have a look. http://landscapeart.org.uk/en/videos/speedpainting-near-lands-end.wmv

lovely, Peter, I like the way you have used the dark tree to frame the view and the water looks wet. You have got a lot of impact into a tiny painting

A very atmospheric painting, Peter. The light is superb.

I agree with all of the above but the thing that impressed me the most was the lighter foliage on the extreme right . Was this done by negative painting the darks, lifting out , using the more opaque colours or even masking fluid. The effect gives depth to the foreground & adds realism. Most of us would like to produce work of this quality if it took months.

Thank you all for your great comments, the response that I get of this site and seeing the extensive variety of artwork only makes me want to paint more and improve the quality and variation of my work. Andy, with regards to your question, in this instance I used opaque colours, but I do use all the techniques stated, depending on the effect I'm trying to achieve. Thanks again.

One of a lovely well painted Gallery of works Peter, I almost thought I saw the trees leaf fronds moving !!!. Very pleasant journey through the collection.
