You are very good at trees, Peter, and the textures throughout this work are really good, I like the suggestions of leaf litter and grasses and bark on the trunks, also the looking through to the light beyond effect

Nice details and love the shadow and light.

Another lovely painting Peter. I like the ones you say are quick sketches on practice paper, as much as any of them, anyway. But unless you throw dozens away, is the difference in cost worth it, if you prefer the Bockingford. Which is about 70p a quarter sheet for 250lb not. Your work is such good quality, it deserves it.

Peter, you truly show your talent for watercolours by being able to create such super quality paintings on practise paper. I can't get on with it at all!

I think your trees are great Peter and the sunlight through the trees is beautiful.

Goodness, this reminds me so much of the path I take through the woods just near my house - I almost thought it was that path!! Anyway, back to your painting - lovely trees with dappled light coming through them, nice strong darks in contrast and the path does a great job of leading your eyes into and through the painting. Like the addition of the figure as well.

Thank you all for the kind positive comments.

Lovely - inspires me to use more opaque paints alongside pure watercolour as this really works, but agree can be sacrificed when not using a great quality paper. The translucency of the tree leaves is very convincing.

Nicely done, Peter. The light is lovely, as are the trees.

Another quick exercise - 2 - 2 1/2 hrs. used opaque paint for tree highlights and a scalpel for effects on the tree trunks and foreground leaves and stones. practice paper - 25 x 16 cm. no sure if practice paper is the right thing to use as the flow and handling of paint on a better quality paper handles better. Comments please.
