what a beautiful bird. You have managed to tone down the size of the post very well by having it fade into the background.

fabulous watercolours, Paul. In my last house, we had 20 different species of bird coming to feed - including a Sparrowhawk [feeding on a pigeon !!]. your paintings ooze with affection for your subject.

Hi Jennifer, we also get a similar amount of species during our weekly BTO garden check which is great, especially for the photo references! I'm guessing you are like me living in a rural location, with my partner and myself being in a farmy North Devon.

Stunning little bird! Amazing gallery you have too!

I really love your wonderful and accurate detail of songbirds. That takes study and very careful precise work to get them right. You certainly have the talent and the eye for it. Paul

Another one completed today 25th August 2012. Watercolour on 140lb SAA paper 225mm x 168mm. Approx 7 hours work. I was again amazed at the amount of colours I had to mix and blend into this one even though I used a limited pallet of six colours. However these six colours will have made over 30 different colours and tonal variations. A delight to paint another one of these birds even though I am not happy with the large post it is sat on, nor the bird itself..... http://www.devonartist.co.uk/
