Super work here Paul and early days yet so lots of good things to come. Sorry to hear of you problems, seems such a small word to use but you know what I mean.

Thank you derek that's very kind. I am much better now physically and mentally and the painting does certainly help its very therapuetic

Paul I like this. It is really good. I have been in your place - in fact I have suffered from bi-polar disorder for nearly 30 years. If it hadn't been for that, we would never have moved to a quieter place to live and I would never have taken up painting. So in some way this has done you a favour. Keep painting - you have real talent. But as long as you enjoy your art, why care. You are right, there is a lot of pretention but on this site you will find help and inspiration. If you look on the artists' galleries here you will see very diverse talents. Good luck

Hi Adele. I don't know if I have a right to mention pretentions but quite frankly I don't care!! What really gets up my pipe is that if an amateur artist produces work its classed sometimes as that by these people and totally disregarded however if recognised artists produce crap then its called abstract, impressionistic, or some other term and people rave about it!! Whatever I continue to let these people live on their own little planet. Such a shame they live on ours but welcome to earth. My issues were mainly circumstantial ie having multiple illnesses and issues with my youngest daughter etc which if I go into detail about here I will possibly use all the bandwidth!! I am in a calmer place now and this have settled down a little but until like yourself you have suffered yourself its very easy again to disregard these issues. I stayed in a place called maytree for a week in north London which is a charity suicide sanctuary and it helped me immensely. Its the only one of its kind in the uk which also makes me angry. I am still battling with the NHS over patient choice regarding moving to another trust as the service with mental health in Leicester is scandalously poor. In the meantime I dodge the morons and continue painting!! Thanks for your kind comments

Hi Paul this looks a good piece of work, but can you photo it square on and not at an angel. Then we can have a REAL look at it. I like the marks you make. Paul I used to work with individuals that needed all kinds of support. I can tell you art heals. My catch fraise is "Art is a healing activity." I talk from experience because I have had the privilege to work with individuals and see them overcome there difficulties through the medium of painting.

Thank you john. I will try and edit these later and add future ones in that way if I can. Its not the complete answer but it really helps me

Hi Paul. Your views are echoed by a lot of amateur artists, me included. In fact soon I will be doing a blog about that very thing. I didn't join this site long ago but I noticed that although some people comment, which is great, not many bother to blog - or if they did they perhaps didn't get much response. So you might have noticed a couple of us doing more blogs. I have a whole list of different subjects but I want to spread them out so that people don't get bored hearing from just a couple of artists. Would be interesting to get other people involved. Even if you only had time to do one a week would be good. You might find it will help you to get more involved. I am sure you are realising that there are a lot of lovely people with helpful comments on site. Will leave it up to you. Meantime don't forget to look at the blogs from time to time. It was lovely having your input on one of my blogs.

Adele I am more than happy to get involved just let me know and I will assist wherever I can

Based in tropical Leicester I consider myself to be an amateur artist but see absolutely nothing wrong with this. Born on the same day President Kennedy was shot so I can remember where I was at the time!! I still have a headache!! I detest pretentions and find sadly that there are many with such in…
