I liked all of them; I like strong darks in watercolour and you've more than fulfilled that criterion with these.

I too like them Paul, lovely flower paintings

This is my favourite one, Paul. In my opinion the vase is more defined and so are the shadow parts on the table and the wall. Beautiful and well painted flowers.

I like this a lot too as I think you have got the arrangement of the flowers better organised. However, all three have their particular merits. I think Version No 1 has lovely loose leaves and a great vase. Version 2 and 3 have more vibrant colours, so a real dilemma in picking one as the best. I think you have ended up with three very good paintings!

I agree, it's another great painting Paul.

Thank you all very much. I enjoyed having a go.

Yes this is beautiful, love the shadow too. Lovely deep tones.

Hello Paul. I'm rather jealous of your flowers paintings given that you imply they aren't really your thing. I actually think I prefer the first two more than this one, I think they are a bit looser but that might just be me. They are all great in any case. Why don't you do some flowers from life though? (I think what you said implies you worked from photos on these, apologies if that was not the case).

Hi Heather. You're right, I do get tighter each time. I have to make a conscious effort to be loose...it doesn't seem to come naturally to me yet. The first one was just made up and it was because I had no reference material that I had problems with parts of the painting. The last two were based on photo's. One of the first rules in the 'How to be a Bloke' handbook clearly states that it is forbidden to go flower shopping when the pubs are open. So I imagine it will be a long time before I paint real flowers. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I like this more than the previous two efforts. Enough flowers for the time being. On to something new!
