I decided to have a go at something really loose and saw what looked like a simple loose watercolour of a face on the internet. I've not painted a face before, so I could kill two birds with one stone. Unfortunately, I got the proportions wrong and my effort looked like he had a flat head. I had to lift his head which left an obvious line and in an effort to hide it I had to add lots more detail which defeated the whole point of starting this painting.
