Oil sketch on W&N oil paper approx 25 cm x 20 cm. I painted this last week on Shelter Island, New York. Lovely place. This plant was dotted around lots of gardens, It grows profusely, though I don't know what it's called. Took about an. hour to paint outside in the garden - with a very limited palette. I only took a 4 tubes of oil paint abroad (3 primaries plus white) 2 brushes and this oil paper - it was ideal for quick oil sketches - and keeps the weight down on aircraft.
