I agree with Dawn, lovely atmosphere.

Lovely colours, beautiful

like this one lovely painting.

I really like this, the colours ,light and space. As for the kite I took a quick look at images of flying kites on google and I think it's the angle of the kite that should tilt forward a bit at the top. When I'm adding birds, sheep or people to a painting and I'm not sure exactly where or what size/shape would look right, I paint them onto clear plastic sheet rescued from packaging and hold it in front of the painting to get the position. The paint wipes off the plastic easily so you can keep trying different arrangements without spoiling the painting.

Thank you so much everyone for your encouraging comments. I think you are right about the kite Gillian. I'll try your technique with plastic and tweek it a bit.

Oil on canvas 50 cm square (I know it doesn't look square, it's just a quick photo and misses part of sky etc.) Lots of kite flying on East Coast beaches at the moment. 95% brush, a bit of knife work on the highlights. The kite is still not right I've had it big, small, distant, near - I'll leave it for a week or so and have another go.
