Snow in the woods
This is a large oil painting, a bit of palette work, mostly brush and a fairly limited palette - cerulean, ultra blue, ultra violet, alizaron I got the idea from a painting in an American magazine that was smaller and more abstract in style. The scene reminded me of Skipwith Common near York which seems to have been constantly covered in snow for the last 3 months. Hence this was painted inside. I'm determined to get back painting outside soon but it has been so cold this winter, my fingers are blue in 10 minutes. A day supposedly painting at Bridlington was a non starter last week - dull, dark and freezing cold. I admire those painters who venture out in all weathers.
