Love the fuschias. Your technique is really coming on. Must paint some fat birds myself.

Oh my friend you are winning ! this is gorgeous ! Fuschias are so wonderful.

Really lovely Patsy. This has come together so well. Be very proud of yourself.

Nothing wrong with a fat bird !! This is great, love the fuschias.

Very nice painting Patsy.

Patsy, this is beautiful and the humming bird looks fine to me. Bought a book few weeks ago called "chinese painting techniques for exquisite watercolours " by Lian Quan Zhen where he uses both eastern and western techniques and cant wait to try one

Am I being a touch conservative in wishing your humming bird had something to perch on? A branch coming into the picture, for instance. Luscious colour in this - I don't think the bird looks too fat. Have a go at grinding Chinese ink one of these days - it's so different from Indian ink, with a strong yet soft tone, and although I've not used it for years, I do remember how rewarding it was & pleasant to use.

PS - I do see something under the bird, but it's so light in tone that I can't quite "read" it.

Humming birds rarely ever perch; they hover. This is lovely Patsy. The flowers in particular are just perfect with the light and dark tones. I must try my Chinese set again one day. Never could get to grips with it.

I think this is attractive and well done. I like the magenta petals in particular, great brush strokes, and yes the Humming bird always hovers.

Hi Patsy, he turned out absolutely wonderful, fuschias look beautiful, you must be very pleased, lovely painting I do love the colours.

Well done Patsy. Especially for sticking with the little Hummer... I have a feeling that took a lot of discipline on your part. I bet you wanted to go onto the next bird available .. but your persistance has paid off here. He is a little smasher and I think you have handled the Fuschia well too. Great to see you posting to your gallery. You are always so generous in taking the time to comment and consider others work.. I am sure we all appreciate it hugely.. xx I still like the look in his eye best.. he definitely had personality.

Hi Patsy just like yesterday..wow this is really quite stunning...Don't you ever dare say again that you can't paint...You have found your niche. The ancient chinese artist would be impressed too. I trust you have looked up their philosophy of their art?

Hiya Patsy, Agree with Mel. It's also beautiful. lots of love, Coll xx

Come along Robert...thats what humming birds do..hover!!!!. Just cos we only have robins etc, who do need a perch . Just found this Patsy, the colour is superb and I love the little (fatish) Humming bird. and those fuschia are terrific.

Well I never, have you been hiding these, another fine painting. James

lovely painting with gorgeous colours!

Patsy, your Chinese brushwork is fabulous! You are probably wondering why I asked that question on your 'old ' work section of your gallery. I automatically went into that section as I had looked at it before, without noticing your new work. I see you have been very busy!

Watercolour on Arttec Smooth 210gpm...an exercise from a Walter Foster book by Lucy Wang I didn't grind ink for this one but used black watercolour which with Chinese Brushwork is acceptable as is the use of white...I finished this in class today but I think it would have to be the fattest Humming Bird ever...it just kept getting bigger and bigger...I admit to lapsing into watercolour technique forgetting the one stroke rule...had I stayed with the one stroke rule the Humming Bird wouldn't need to go on a diet
