Lucifer Humming Bird by Patsy King

I don't know much about CH. brush painting...but find it interesting.Like the line of head eye and beak in this, and the colours (ink?)

Ruth has beat me to it Patsy, I knew this was yours immediately, the line of the head and the beak must have been difficult to control. Really well done.

Lovely bird, flowing lines. I agree about the flowers; they seem too heavy for the bird.

Did you use Chinese ink? It has the look of it, that warm black which is so characteristic; love the flowing lines - keep practising. Colour is striking too - that green is appealing. I well remember the Walter Foster books: I used to read them around 40 years ago, when the old man was still living and wrote almost indecipherable notes, with his distinctive spelling and grammar; but they were actually packed with information, good value, and useful. They must have encouraged thousands of people over the years to have a go at expressing themselves; you couldn't take everything in them as being the Gospel truth, & they could be a touch eccentric: but I'm glad to know they're still around.

Hi Patsy, Like your Humming Bird. I was astonished to find that there was a Lucifer Humming bird? I thought it would have to be red and black but obviously not...Like the naughty look in his eye,,, hmmn what is he thinking ?

Further p.s sadly, sadly, it wasn,t me who won at Patchings Patsy, sniff , sniff. I can tell you if I ever did I would be booking my flight to Oz and tell you in person, I would be so chuffed.

Hello Patsy, sorry to say I missed this one, striking humming bird, love the green and the beak is so well done, I didn't know there was a lucifer humming bird either as they say you learn something new every day :-) I wouldn't change a thing about him his just right, regards Karleen.

Hi Patsy just cleaning up...I'm sorry I have neglected your gallery lately...this spectacular bird has attracted good comment...it reminds me of those in the Peruvian Amazon Basin...so colourful, so fast, so tame...Yep you have captured its soul. Well done, I like it.
