I was really pleased when I managed to capture the photographic reference for this picture, having spent the last year or so gradually developing a bird feeding station outside a window. Careful observation and management has led to our being able to offer quite a smorgasbord for an ever widening variety of visitors, while protecting them from squirrels and squabbling gangs of starlings!
