Sue Warner has sent in her 30 minute project saying: 'As an inspired novice who has been reading The Artist for many years I finally decided to not only get up and paint, ( Glyn has previously inspired me to paint harbours) but also to submit my effort. I was less than satisfied with this picture but thought I would share my learning points from the experience. 1. I had a vase full of flowers which left few negative shapes and I had already started to pain in my background before I realised I had not fully observed any negative shapes. 2. I struggled to get the lighting right (painting at 6pm with overhead spots not the best ) so had to adapt 3. I realised if I had drawn the vase first I would have had a better idea of contrast and shapes. 4. I loved the final tip about the flicking. It created a feeling of pollen which fitted very well with the lilies and also reminded me of summer. 5. Muddied the colours would have been better if more time allowed as felt rushed and up against the clock. However I think that was the idea of 30 minute pic and it got me painting. I welcome your comments and thank Glyn for your prompt.
