Paul Talbot-Greaves Challenge Five - September 2017
Bob Biggart sent in his version of Paul's challenge saying: 'I’ve just finished this month’s challenge by Paul. I very much enjoyed having a go at the river scene in watercolour. My style isn’t as loose as Paul’s, and I have a feeling that I may not have simplified and blurred the entire background as much as he intended in his brief, but the foreground is pretty loose. I decided that it wasn’t too much artistic licence to add a footpath along the left side of the river to add a little extra interest, plus I omitted the pylon in the background, and replaced it with two more telegraph poles to add recession. Originally, the sky was plain. I did think about adding a few clouds, but thought that a plain sky was more in keeping with what Paul asked. Unforeseen circumstances decided that it was to be with clouds however, as while I was photographing the painting outside, a small garden bird overflying the driveway decided that my painting was good for target practice, and a sm
