Paul Talbot-Greaves Challenge Three - summer 2017 by Painters-Online Team
Jane Clarke sent in her version of Paul's summer challenge saying: 'I started by doing a light sketch of the buildings, horizon and far trees and also lightly marked out the shadow areas in the lower half of the photograph. I painted from the sky down and having finished the first wash to the foreground, which looked huge, I decided that the shadows weren't dramatic enough as I had been working wet in wet. Instead of going back to my watercolours after looking at this painting again I decided to use watercolour crystals to add a bit of drama. So armed with a water sprayer and some crystals I tipped it, sprayed, sprinkled and this is the result. Not really convincing shadows but definitely dark and light!'
