Good textures very effective.

This is a really interesting painting and I like the way it is developing. You can also add gesso and pumice together to create wonderful textures in relief as well in combination with these techniques Sue. In this composition I really like the high horizon allowing plenty of the foreground composition to be explored with all those lovely textures! Great painting.

here is a link for the pumice I use for my own textured paintings you might find useful http://www.jacksonsart.com/p1615/AV_Acrylic_Medium:_Course_Pumice_Paste_200ml/product_info.html

Sue Parmley has sent in her version of Paul Talbot-Greaves' first acrylic exercise set in the January 2016 issue of The Artist saying: 'This 10" x 10" painting on textured paper has an underpainting of cadmium yellow for the field. When this was dry, more paint was brushed on quite thickly, then crumpled cling film was pressed on to give texture. This was weighted down until more or less dry, then the green on the horizon was painted in, plus other minor additions. More texture in the foreground was from applying paint with a piece of flat plastic. A light spattering of paint, using an old toothbrush, gave some mottling on the dark areas'
