Not an easy subject and how did you get it to hold that pose??? Smashing study and lovley painterly feel to iy.

Beautiful painting, the light from the skylight is wonderful Elizabeth.

A subject from which the sensible artist shrinks and says "leave it to Stubbs"! But you've brought it off with a very sensitive and at the same time powerful portrait.

The horse was waiting to be shod. The blacksmith has a metal rest ( don't know it's proper name ) which he places under each of the horse's legs in turn so he can file the hoof. The horse had been impatiently pawing the ground but I did some quick sketching when the hoof was held up on the metal rest. Backsmiths conveniently take long enough to get a complete sketch done while the horse is tied up!

Yes lovely sculptural painting Elizabeth

Sorry Elizabeth it was a joke, obviously not a good one. I have sketched and painted a few nags in my time and understand your thinking. Like I said - a smashing study.

Lovely painting caught in an unusual pose

This is such a gentle and beautiful painting Elizabeth! Very fine indeed!

Wonderful creature and a wonderful painting. I can feel his aggitation!

Stunning light, beautifully captured.

Thank you for your kind comments. I love this website. Like many artists, I work in self imposed isolation for most of the time, so to have comments from other artists is fabulous. A really good experience.

Beautiful
