I like especially the way the leaves indicate the plane of the water and the colour palette works well.

This is super Helen, apart from the leaves on the water and the reeds, which are terrific, I love the way you have done the water.

Lovely composition and colours, Helen. At first glance I thought the leaves were water hawthorn - we’ve got a lot of these growing in our pond.

Thank you William, Fiona, and Jenny. I don't know what plant the leaves are from. I took the photo about a decade ago (along with the lily pads and leaves I posted the other day). The water has worked better than the other painting (I might tweak that one yet)

This is almost sem abstract and designy. Very attractive.

Thank you Val-Irene. I started out my 'arty' life in a textile design degree (didn't last long, however!), but I must admit I do like patterns in things

Beautifully painted Helen - lots of quality in this work.

This is a beautiful piece, Helen. I could stare at it for hours.

About the Artist
Helen Martell

I've been painting (acrylics) for about 10 years, after going on a painting day with my mother. I guess I've always been creative (it's in the family genes), not always with paint. Over the decade it started mainly with pet portraits, as word got around my workplace that my stuff wasn't too bad..…
