It is a beautiful scene and very well captured too

Beautiful spot and very well painted

I love your painting Murray ,it has a wonderful peacefull feeling about it, I definitely could live with this one.

This painting is excellent! the lighting and shadows are well done, love the atmosphere congrats. =)

Thank-you all for your kind comments, Winkle Street is one of those little time capsules that you can imagine rural life going on around you unchanged for a millennia, with the old sheep-wash still intact and mimulus (Monkey Musk) and watercress growing in the stream. I find that sometimes the square format is more suited to some scenes as it enables the artist to concentrate on an element of a scene rather than having to fill a landscape format canvas, it works very well for a surprising amount of scenes. If you find yourself unsure what to include in your landscape composition maybe in your next painting, think square, it might just be the answer your looking for!

Great work Murray, so much going on in this super oil painting, a really lovely work, that tree branch covered in leaves at the top of this scene is inspired and creates lovely dappled shadows on the water and stronger shadows across on the river bank

400 x 400 Artisan oil on canvas board. One of the most photographed and painted scenes on the Isle of Wight. I love this sort of picture and especially enjoy working with the oils.
