What a delightful painting of days gone by Murray.

Fabulous Murray, that smoke adds the final perfect touch.

A lovely painting and agree with Heather, the smoke is a great addition and brings it all to life.

Helen Allingham was a great friend of the Tennyson's who lived at Farringford near Freshwater Bay on the western end of the Isle of Wight, cottages featured greatly in her work, Helen was a great watercolourist and wasn't afraid to use what the Victorians referred to as body-colour, we call this Gouache which is an opaque watercolour. I have used a little in my rendering of the scene. I live not far from Farringford; though this cottage no longer exists there are a few similar in the immediate vicinity.
