Oh yes - I've been there, and it looked a lot like this, Welsh weather predominating... Is this acrylic? I like the dots of light on the water, and wonder if this was controlled spatter, or whether you painted it all in, in a more controlled way - because I've been through a long period of having real trouble painting moving water.

Fabulous painting. I like the colour change as water meets shore. The low clouds so effective.

Thanks also for your kind comments on Llyn Idwal. This is acrylic on canvas, Robert. A mixture of thick on thin and washes. I generally kept the underpainting dark on the hills and lighter on the water. The highlights and lowlights were loosely rippled onto the waves with a final random splatter of white with a toothbrush (taking care to mask off the mountain area).

The mist over the mountain is brilliantly captured, a great painting Mike

Great light on the water, and that swirling mist descending from the Devils kitchen onto y garn. Cracking scene which replays so many fond memories.

Beautiful painting, Mike, you have certainly captured the brooding mood of the misty mountain lake.

So full of atmosphere .

Wonderful water and atmosphere, Mike.

A brilliant painting, Mike. We love our Welsh scenery and you have brought out the best in it.

This is brilliant! The clouds are so realistic, as is the light on the water.

Thanks for all of your kind comments everyone. Hope to get back to Snowdonia when the vaccines kick in!
