You have got loads of atmosphere in this one Mike and as you so rightly say to paint rain as heavy as this everything in the scene has to be toned right down almost like the colours have been washed out of them, super shiny surfaces, and great darks as well

Dark and Depressing, I Love it, brilliant

Couldn't resist it; slick! Marvellous as always Mike.

I agree this is fabulous. It really is a proper rainy day. I use the term proper because I got soaking wet through yesterday and I couldn't even see the cloud that got me, in fact it was still sunny??? This is one of the most atmospheric paintings I've seen in a long time. Excellent.

Wonderful piece, and good advice in your comment, too - quite agree with you about the dulling of colour, in the rain: this really gives the impression of a wet, dismal day without being in any way dismal as a painting. Tell you what - if you don't sell it, give it to me......

Terrific Mike! I agree with all the above comments. Everything about it has class.

Well Mike what can I say - have just stumbled across your paintings - the way you capture light is just brilliant it brings you right into the atmosphere of a moment in time

Like this a lot. Superb monochrome and brilliant light.

A glowering day in the city - beautifully captured and conveyed. Superb work.

thank you for you comments everyone - they are greatly encouraging.

12x12" acrylic on linen board. My favourite street for wet-weather paintings! It's interesting how the rain greys-down colours. Many rainy-day paintings have too much colour in them and thus doesn't quite hit the mark with atmosphere.
