A Walk in Kielder Forest by Mike Turner

I like it Mike - colours and those trees are very nicely painted. I'm not a landscape painter so will leave it to others more informed to comment but the only thing I would say is that path leading through does not look quite right. I think it just needs a little tweak or two on the dark areas of shading on the lhs. Hope that helps.

I like it too Mike. I agree with Heather in that the main thing not quite right is the path as I am not quite sure if it is a path or a thin pool of water. I think the edge of the green area above it is very straight and I wonder if it may have looked more natural if that line was more undulating or broken in places. If the brown area was smaller or broken up then it may be seen more as puddles on a path? I am no expert but it may be worth a try. I still like it though.

I like the way you have the light coming through the picture and the feeling of depth in the forest. I don't think a lot of change is actually required, some suggestions would be: 1. More varied greens - darks and lighter shade introduced will help the visual impact. 2. The cross over of the tree trunks in the middle draws my attention perhaps too much, try adding a few more branches to the trunks. 3. Draw out the path to the left bottom hand corner it may help with perspective) and add some shadows (try a gentle intorduction of a purple shade).

Thank you all three. There seems to be a bit of a theme here 😊. I can see your points and Ceri I know just what you mean about the tree crossover, it has annoyed the hell out of me. I must try your suggestion - in fact the suggestions from all of you. Thanks again.

HELP. I painted this from a photo I took in late November. I don’t like the painting and would LOVE to get your opinions on how I could have improved it. Or just what I did wrong. PLEASE don’t hold back. I can only improve if I know where I go wrong. Thanks.
